Introduction
In the realm of academia, the role of a professor is paramount in shaping the future of students and contributing to the overall growth of knowledge. To honor and acknowledge the exceptional contributions of these educators, Taxila Business School have instituted the “Best Professor Award.”

The Need for the Best Professor Award:

  1. Recognition of Excellence: The Best Professor Award serves as a platform to recognize and celebrate the outstanding contributions of educators who go above and beyond in their roles. It highlights the importance of teaching, mentorship, and research in the academic community.
  2. Motivation and Inspiration: The award serves as a source of motivation for professors to continuously strive for excellence in their teaching methods, research endeavors, and community engagement. By acknowledging exceptional achievements, the award inspires other educators to set higher standards for themselves.
  3. Enhancing Institutional Reputation: Institutions that value and reward excellence in teaching and research often attract high-caliber faculty members and students. The Best Professor Award contributes to building a positive institutional reputation and fosters a culture of academic excellence.

Shiksha Ratna is bestowed in the following four areas:

  1. Teaching Excellence Award: Recognizes professors who demonstrate outstanding skills in classroom instruction, curriculum development, and student engagement.
    Research Excellence Award: Acknowledges professors for their significant contributions to research and scholarship in their field. This may include publications, conference presentations, and grant funding.
  2. Innovation in Teaching Award: Honors professors who demonstrate creativity and innovation in their teaching methods, incorporating new technologies, pedagogical approaches, or curriculum design.
  3. Mentorship Award: Recognizes professors who excel in academic advising, guiding students on their academic and career paths.

Eligibility for the Award:

The award is open to all the faculty members of colleges/universities/higher educational institutions/ Coaching Institutes in India, satisfying the following conditions:

  • Should be a Regular Academician (Lecturer/Ass./Associate/Professors)
  • Should have at least five years of full-time teaching experience at the Undergraduate and/or Post-graduate level.

Nominations for the award can be made by any of the following:

  • Vice-Chancellor/Director/Principal/Institute/College, Self, Student
  • A colleague or any other faculty member, including former faculty member/ Head/Dean of the same institution.

Criteria for the nominations:

  • The comprehensive evaluation encompasses elements such as course design, mentorship, research output, industry collaborations, community engagement, and recognition received.
  • Providing students support for the physical and psychological well-being of students while also enhancing their cognitive abilities.
  • Fostering gender, Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) sensitization and inclusivity on campus, community engagement, outreach, and service, etc.
  • Fostering environmental/climate sensitivity, multi-stakeholder adaptability, and a strong sense of nationalism.
  • Innovations/initiatives/Startups contributing towards better communities and nations.
  • One person can make multiple nominations at a time.
  • Members of the Search cum Screening Committees may also take suo-moto cognizance of an outstanding faculty member and may nominate.
  • The nominator may please ensure that the nomination form is duly completed and information, as required by the Committee, is included.
  • Nominations received after the due date shall not be considered.

General Procedure for submission of the application:

  • No row/column in the application is to be left blank by the applicant. Blank will be treated as Nil.
  • Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected and no communication in relation to such cases will be entertained.
  • Any information/input found to be false at any stage will invite penal action and cancellation of the application/award.
  • Application is to be submitted online only through the designated portal.
  • Colleges/Universities may have multiple nominations for their faculty members.

Selection Committees

All the nominations received will be duly screened and verified by the committee.

  • Preliminary Search cum Screening Committee for initial shortlisting of candidates
  • Committee of ‘Jury’ for the final section of awardees from the shortlisted candidates
