Education

N. K. Chaudhary finished schooling from Government Bagla Senior Secondary School in 1970 after which he pursued his graduation at Government Lohia College Churu, Rajasthan.

Career

NK Chaudhary started by joining his father’s shoe business called ‘Bharat Boot House’. Soon he left the family business to find his own journey. During this course he met Ilay Cooper, a British designer who was studying Shekhawati Wall Paintings. Mr. Cooper inspired NK, as he is popularly called, to revive carpet making art of Indian artisans. With a loan of Rs 5000 from his father, he worked day and night to set up his business which was named ‘Bharat Carpet Enterprise’. His company later forayed into Global exports and grew manifold. Along the journey, his company came to be christened and popularly known as ‘Jaipur Rugs Pvt. Ltd’, which is now the India's leading manufacturer and exporter of hand knotted rugs.

Awards and Honors

Shri Nand KishoreChaudhary was awarded with the prestigious ‘Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award in 2010. Immediately followed the ‘Distinguished Entrepreneur Award’ in the year 2010 awarded by PHD Chamber of Commerce. He also received ‘Game Changer Award’ by The HR Club in the year 2017. He also received ‘India Pride Award 2011’ which marked him as a social change agent and a social entrepreneur who employed 40000 artisans from 10 states of India. Later he was also bestowed with ‘KarmaveerPuraskaar’ in 2012.

In 2019, Jaipur Rugs and NK Chaudhary were mentioned in Raj Sisodia’s book, ‘The Healing Organization’ for ‘The Power of Innocence’. The book describes how Mr. Chaudharyworked both ways to heal the customers and at the same time transform the society with love. His philosophies of totality, inclusion and deriving profit solutions to society are broadly discussed in the book.
