MEMORIES: A TIMELESS TREASURE

MEMORIES: A TIMELESS TREASURE

People in our life come, some of them stay and some of them leave but what all we have at the end is ‘Memories’. Memories are nothing but a way to rejuvenate happiness and to relive those moments which were spent long ago. I can recall one of the moments where we all were having tea time in the evening and Mr. Shah (my grandfather’s friend) came, he joined us, he had brought some chikkis (square-shaped Indian sweets) along with him. We all were having diverse conversations and with the flow, my grandfather and his friend got into another world of nostalgia where they started having cool talks over their past days in college, how they used to manage their timings, and about one of their friend’s mischievous behavior. After listening to their talks I started thinking about what are the reasons that memories affect the moods of people and this is the only thing that lasts with the person for so long.

You know what: Memories are the connection that links you to your past and with your upcoming future, it can be good and bad but memory is the only part that will remain with you for lifetime. People usually try to forget bad incidents of their life but what they are unaware of is that in their subconscious mind they are recalling the moment again and again, but the thing is why do we consider recalling such memories as bad? Because anyhow those memories are lessons to us and even make us experienced.

I read a quote a few days back: “No matter how much suffering you went through, you never wanted to let go of those memories.” Sometimes it is hard to bear those things which went wrong unexpectedly. Just like a person who is very close to you right now and you both had numerous memories but because of a small fight you both stopped talking to each other. The only thing left with both of you are those moments and sometimes looking back on those will pull you to reconnect and to be the same you were earlier. Good memories are that part of your life that you never wanna forget and even most of us try to recreate those overwhelmed moments just because these things give us euphoria and can be treated as a pill for some of us to live our life.

It depends upon person to person how they want their memories to stay with them. One of my friends enjoys her time and likes to make memories but does not want to capture those moments by saying that she will capture them in her eyes, unlike another friend who loves to capture them in his camera and says that whenever he wants to get into this time again he can look over these pictures. People also convert some of the pictures into frames so they can see it every day and feel ecstasy.

We feel blessed when something good happens to us but start questioning when something wrong happens. This is nothing else but human behavior because we are not accustomed to bad things. Similarly, whenever you’ll ask any person about his/her past he/she tells you their happy and joyful moments, rarely you’ll find someone telling you about their dark memories because most of us want to keep those memories to us thinking that people will take advantage. But till now I don’t know why people do such things because sharing them will make you feel at ease and this is the time which has already passed and even unchangeable. Creating memories, reliving them, recalling them are some ways in between which our life is. So now it is upon us how we see things and categorize our memories into different aspects by looking upon them.
