Human Resource is the mother of corporations, the human resource department performs recruiting, staffing, compensating and retaining activities that are a necessity for every organization. But to this day Human Resources have been a focal point of jokes and heckling in most of the organizations. We have failed to realize the importance of the HR department in an organization. We do not acknowledge the significant role the HR Personnel play to make an employee work for the organization.
In recent searches, it has been found that Human Resource is being considered as an unimportant department for startups and can be outsourced from external sources. But can we agree that this management can work in the long run? No, I don't think so.
In India as per the labour law, a company with more than a certain number of people has to adhere to the acts and regulations which are applicable in that particular industry. So to be proficient in that work a proper HR department should be set up, which can reduce the cost and can sync the human efforts and their values with the organization's core values and ethics.
Consider the following example; If you ask an IT aspirant, Which Company he or she would like to join after their graduation, their probable answer would be Google, TCS, Infosys, and Deloitte etc.
What makes them dream about such companies? I am sure there are more software companies paying even larger remuneration than what these big companies are offering, but the factors that drive their opinions or thoughts about their dream companies are :-
- work environment,
- Leadership,
- Promotion Process,
- Ethnicity,
- Training and development procedure etc.
If we look closely, most of these factors come under the maintenance done by a Human Resource Manager.
Organizations need a systems administration with each area of concern of the market to comprehend their potential clients and market attributes. This can enable them to focus on the correct individuals at opportune time and encourages the administrator to tweak choice and theory of organization's working. To achieve those goals HR should focus on these very aspects:-
- Market the HR- Human Resource department is not marketing themselves within an organization. They don't indulge in activities that can prove that their existence has a correlation with organizational goals and vision. Ernst and Young, Google, Tata have names in the best companies anyone wants to work with. It's because the HR there has done its marketing well by building a good image in the employees’ mind. Managers should focus on making the stakeholder realize how the Human Resource department is contributing in increasing the profitability of the organization. The HR manager should always be ready to present the strategies that can ease the organization’s workforce management work.
- Train the HR People- If the department does not have sufficient and significant employees then how will the department work fine? HR departments need to recruit the correct person, who can understand human behaviour and can apply those theories to practical situations. To make that happen HR managers need to do some research and find potential ways to train their existing employees and hone their skills, to be utilized in optimum manner to seek the considerate goal. Why to acquire talent, if you can build it in-house. This simple vision can make your employees loyal to you and also it will help the marketing procedure to brand the company core values. Employees are not just ‘oompa loompa’ of corporal manufacturing procedure, rather they have become an integral part of an internal stakeholder who has a relationship with external stakeholders too, so we need to brand the company through them as well. For that to happen companies need to mend a better relation with their employees.
- Centralize the Workforce- Human resource is the hub of a company, it connects every department with authorities and internally as well. The work of the HR department should be to synchronize the departmental goals with the organization’s vision. To do so the working of HR should be centralized and easily accessible. HR needs to nurture such an environment where a certain transparency can exist and the HR person should know what actually another department wants ,and what could be done to help them to tackle the hindrance they face. A periodic analysis should be done to review the workings and the impact the department and their employees have on the organization goal. Then it should be discussed with that particular department authority to settle things as soon as possible. This can help the Human resource department to achieve the Strategic HR, we are talking about. If possible certain digital tools can be used to create a better communication channel and digitalize the human resources workings.
To conclude, the department of Human Resource needs to assess their current working and find the loopholes, on the basis of their findings they shou;d train the HR managers. A human resource manager’s solitary vision should be to set rules which could lead the human mind to the way of greatness to result in the transformation of aptitudes to sapphire. This is on the grounds that every one of the advantages and fortune a worker conveys is its range of abilities and the subsidiaries of appetite to accomplish the most extreme estimation of itself that is most imperative characteristic of being an astute and develop human to be disentangled with magnificence and accomplishment inside the company.
